Case Study: Automotive Services
The aim: Better data transparency creating a sound foundation for deriving valuable forecasts and recommendations.
Over view
More than three quarters of new car buyers go first online to make considerations before buying
The Connected car is gaining ground. Networked features are one of the most important criteria when buying a new car for about half of all drivers. With Big Data from WidasConcepts you are always one step ahead of your time and the competition.
The solution
After an extensive requirements analysis, WidasConcepts designed, implemented and configured a central Big Data platform, to which all areas can now have access. Particular attention was paid of course also to the high safety requirements of the industry.
The development of the solution was actively accompanied by WidasConcepts. All employees who have been introduced by us in training on the handling of the new platform with all its possibilities, found strong support.
The technologies used
Linux, Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Flume, Sqoop, Zookeeper
Our Challenge
Centrally collecting data arising in testing, production and application, analyzing and evaluating them in real-time and making it flow back in the process in order to make them useable. That was the desire with which a big automobile manufacturer approached us. The aim was on one hand better data transparency, on the other hand the creation of sound foundations for deriving valuable forecasts and recommendations.
The value-add
The expenses for testing & analytics could be reduced thanks to a better plannability of the series of experiments, an increase of efficiency through smarter testing and simulations and an optimization of the measuring methods. The possibility to derive values from existing data can even avoid costly component-tests.
In production too, there are benefits for the company. Quality checks during the different manufacturing stages and processes, as well as the possibility of real-time error detection leads to clearly reduced expenses. Because countermeasures, such as for example the recalibration of tools, sensors and actuators can be initiated immediately. And: product development and thus the roll-out of new products will be accelerated, based on the product data.
In the vehicle itself, the driver is finally happy about the decreased accident-risks and more driving pleasure. Because the smart on-board systems derive predictions and service recommendations from driver information in real time.
The bottom line: The Big Data platform by WidasConcepts creates the optimal basis for the megatrends “Internet of Things” and “Connected Car”.
